With so many different national days, it can be hard to keep up with all of them. But everyone who considers themself a “cat lady” needs to know one — April 19th is National Cat Lady Day. Yes, you read that right.
It was first introduced by CatCon in 2017. If you’re wondering what CatCon is, it can be described as the “biggest cat-centric, pop culture event in the world dedicated to all things feline.”
What’s that? It’s a huge cat expo. Since its establishment in 2015, it has welcomed over 78,000 attendees and has been a part of over 1,000 outlets.
CatCon’s goal is to remove the negative association many people have with the term “cat lady”. They do this by entertaining and educating people worldwide on the topic of cats and cat owners.
The parent company, Ticket Out, Inc., has also donated over $250,000 to various charities.
So, how can you join in the fun? There are multiple ways:
- Use the hashtag #NationalCatLadyDay and post photos or videos on social media. This way, you will flaunt your feline and help spread the popularity of the celebration.
- Buy yourself and your cat a gift. We’ve compiled a list of the best cat gifts if you need some inspiration.
- You can also join the Zoom party. Metaforyou.com are hosting a Zoom for cats, a free event where you can showcase your cats.
- Spend time with your cat. Some people might not know this, but cats can get depressed, and they actually enjoy our affection. So, the easiest thing you can do for your cat — spend time with it.
What are you waiting for? Grab your cat and snap some cute photos. Or, if feeling adventurous, join the Zoom gathering. Whatever you choose to do this day, one thing is for sure — the world now knows that being a cat lady is actually cool.
