Natural Balance has been a well-known company since 1989. They make high-quality products that not only taste delicious but are also high in nutrition. The company caters to both dogs and cats, and they make anything from wet and dry food to treats and dental chews.

On May 20th, Natural Balance Pet Foods, Inc voluntarily recalled one lot of dry cat food. This is because it tested positive for Salmonella during a routine sample check by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.

Salmonellosis is a bacterial infection that could affect both animals and humans. The symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and decreased appetite. Even if your pet appears healthy, the bacteria could spread to other household pets and humans pretty quickly.

The affected products are the 5lb and 10lb L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Green Pea & Chicken Dry Cat Food Formula. The lot code of the bag is # 1008080 N811202-20.

Natural Balance announced it is the only affected product, and no illnesses have been reported. However, if you know that your cat has consumed this product or is eating grass, call your veterinarian right away.
