Freshpet Recalls Their Chicken Recipe Due to Salmonella

The company Freshpet is voluntarily recalling their Select Fresh From the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe. The recalled lot comes with a sell-by date of 10/29/22 in a 4.5lb bag, and no other products nor lots were recalled.

The problem with this lot occurred when it was set for destruction but was accidentally shipped to some retailers. The product was removed from sales because the company suspects it might be contaminated with Salmonella

Salmonella can be dangerous for dogs that come in contact with it, so if you’ve been using this product with the recalled lot, stop immediately. You should also safely dispose of it to prevent further contamination.

If your dog has already had contact with the product, these are the symptoms you should look for:

  • Diarrhea (regular or bloody)
  • High fever
  • Vomiting
  • Decreased appetite
  • Abdominal pain

Once you notice that your dog is experiencing any of these symptoms, please take them to your chosen vet immediately.

If this was the fresh food of your choice, and you don’t have time to go and buy another batch now, there are quality dog food delivery services that can bring fresh food to your door.
