Livia Global recalled their BioLifePet Probiotics for Cats and BioLifePet Probiotics for Dogs due to the possible contamination with Pseudomonas aeruginosa — a potentially harmful bacteria.
The products affected were the following:
Name | UPC | Ship Date | Lot number | Best by |
BioLifePet Probiotics for Cats | 030915 107044 | 05/05/2021 | 001005-1 | 04/2023 |
BioLifePet Probiotics for Dogs | 030915 107037 | 05/05/2021 | 001005-1 | 04/2023 |
All other pet probiotics were not affected. However, if you’re using Livia probiotics too, some human probiotic batches were also recalled.
During a routine check, a 3rd party laboratory found the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria in these products. There are still no reports of anybody getting sick, but the company voluntarily recalled the products as a precaution.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa should not normally cause any problems in healthy dogs or cats. It can only lead to slight headaches and diarrhea in rare cases. However, it can be fatal for those who are already sick or have low immunity.
So, if you have a pet with diabetes or on any other medication, and they’ve used this product, we recommend taking them to a vet. Also, dispose of the product immediately.
The check-up might cost a bit more if you don’t have insurance, but it can cost you a lot more if not treated. Emergency treatments can cost more than $1,000, so it’s better to save some money, and it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
So, check your order number, and contact Deborah Moreno at Livia Global on 1-559-372-8593 or by email at [email protected] for a full refund. The working hours are 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM PST on workdays.
